Dear Newtonians,
I would like to share my thanks to you all. The last few weeks have been difficult ones for my family and me after the loss of my beautiful Grandad Syd, the kind words and love shown to us has been overwhelming.
Grandad lived his life to better the community around him and so many have told us how he touched their life’s even in the smallest of ways. He was the most amazing family man, who taught us all that hard work, belief and love could get you everything you would need, among many other life lessons we received.
I was lucky enough to have some fantastic life defining experiences with him, travelling to West Africa to help give polio drops to small children, being Santa’s elf with Rotary (in the then Safeway) for many years, and being his conference partner during his Rotary District governorship, to name a few. I know I couldn’t have asked for a better Role Model.
On Saturday we had a lovely service he would have been proud of and we heard such wonderful comments from his many friends. One being John Clare who challenged us all to live as Grandad did, putting others First. I hope I can continue this for him and continue to make the world even just a little better.
Thank you again for all your support during this difficult time.
