What a busy week it has been at Aycliffe Village Primary School, from Odd Socks Day on Monday to Pudsey and Children in Need on Friday.
Odd Sock Day was part of Anti-Bullying Week with a theme of One Kind Word. As well as wearing odd socks to show that everyone is different, all of the children took part in activities which encouraged being kind with words. Lime Class took inspiration from the Story of Rosa Parks and Silver Birch Class created a graffiti wall covered in words of kindness. The children in Year 5 and Year 4 created their own dance with cool moves that went with the Andy and the Odd Socks song, ‘One Kind Word’.
On Friday the children celebrated Children in Need day. The day kicked off with an assembly. Then it was into the classrooms for Pudsey related activities. Some classes had Pudsey times tables to work on, while others wrote Pudsey stories.
The lunchtime staff got involved with a Pudsey lunch – the children loved the Pudsey cookies and cupcakes.
Friday afternoon involved the children in a whole school competition which was judged by the School Council.
A busy week, but lots of learning about being kind and helping others.
