Newton Aycliffe & Shildon Based Gymnastics club Athena Sports Academy recently attended a regional Floor competition at Deerness Valley Gymnastics Club on Saturday 6th July 2013. The club triumphed to return home with 12 Bronze, 17 silver and 21 Gold medals which brings a grand total of 50 medals; an outstanding achievement for the club! Coaches: Samantha Robson, Gerry Fuller, Brittany Fuller, Jeff Wade, Colin Robson and Faye Smith would like to express their congratulations to all gymnasts who took part in the competition.
For many of them this was their first competition and for those who have competed before many of them beat their personal best scores. The gymnasts who competed were aged from 4-16 and from various groups that Athena offers including recreational classes and disability classes.
Athena Is also offering Summer camps throughout the summer holidays. Every Monday and Wednesday at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre and every Tuesday and Thursday at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon. Starting Monday 5th August. The camps run from 10am-1pm and will cost £7. Age 5+ welcome.
