NAYFC U11 Wildcats victorious against Leam Rangers

Great game of football from the girls. Coming from behind twice, they all played their part against a good team. During warm up they worked on passing and moving the ball from one side of the pitch to the other. This had a positive impact on the game, but the girls were marking really well and not allowing Leam any time to play out from the back. Some odd decisions went against us today but the girls didn’t let their heads drop. Leam opened the scoring due to an unfortunate own goal and they also managed to put away a penalty, but Aycliffe’s goals were great team goals and always looked the stronger team – totally deserved their late winner. Goals from Thea and Demi Lee. POM – GK and our defenders; Lana, Ruby, Freya, Megan and Lexie.

NAYFC U7’s Celebrate being Winter League Winners

Massive well done to the lads, who have continued to have loads of fun. They are showing a good understanding of the things they are working on in training and have started bringing that development to their matches. Bring on the Spring League!

NAYFC U9 Angels defeated Lumley Ladies

Play was initially end to end, with the girls settling into their game well. They showed spirit and energy in bagfuls. Some great play led to a variety of solo runs on goal and team goals. Lumley used power play to add another player to the pitch but HT saw Angels take a significant lead.

The girls were each set an individual challenge for their second half; they were played out of position, asked to play with their weaker foot or to head the ball. They rose to that challenge with huge smiles and determination.

Skye had little to do today, but she showed her ability to be a sweeper keeper, coming out to balls and clearing, as well as a few great saves at ground level. Determined performances from Emily and Marley, who show improvement week on week, tireless effort and skill from Sophie, Ava and Hannah, versatility and strength offered from Lily and such confidence from April who showed a willingness to play out of position, and super well. Star Player went to April for exactly that.

NAYFC U10 Angels Yellow had a narrow defeat against Felling Magpies.

NAYFC U11 Eagles had a solid win over Durham RTC.

NAYFC U13 Girls took a defeat to Durham.

Lumley Ladies 4 – 1 Newton Aycliffe Women

Coaches show their Commitment to Players

In January, a group of 16 club coaches dedicated time to benefit the club and the children they coach. They attended a workshop hosted by the “If You Care, Share Foundation” and looked at Emotional Wellbeing and all the Mental Health issues facing us all. They looked at signs they may see in every day life and how they could use this in their roles as coaches of young people. The workshop was thought provoking, informative, well presented and, as every one agreed, a great use of time. Aycliffe Youth are looking forward to more opportunities to work with the charity, with both our coaches and players from across our wide range of age groups with boys and girls teams.
