Over 50 children from Newton Aycliffe collected a haul of medals, to rapturous applause from their parents, as they successfully completed the four-day Martin Gray Football Academy course last week.

Held at Greenfield School, it gave those attending the opportunity to learn new footballing skills in a fun and friendly environment. Martin, current Manager of Darlington 1883, said; “The course has always been popular with boys and girls across a wide range of ages, as first and foremost we deliver a programme that is fun. They’re so busy enjoying themselves sometimes they don’t realise how much they’re progressing, but we always see an improvement from the start to the end of the course.”

The children not only enhanced their football knowledge across the week, they also found time to bond off the pitch with a team trip to Planet Leisure where they enjoyed activities including ice-skating, laser tag and bowling. The party atmosphere continued at Greenfield with a visit from Boothalicious and the ever-popular mini World Cup Tournament.

With drop-in Academy sessions held at Alun Armstrong Soccer Centre in Shildon every Tuesday and Friday night between 5.30pm – 7pm, it’s never too late to get involved and new faces are always welcome.

Bookings are now being taken for the Christmas holiday course on 2nd, 3rd and 4th January 2013 – for more details please visit www.martingrayfootballacademy.co.uk, contact Martin directly on 07738 131914 or by email at mgfa@hotmail.co.uk
