Students of the Dance Academy and Gymnastic Academy at Woodham were selected to audition at the prestigious RADA studios in London recently. This was a fantastic opportunity offered to the students due to their excellent performances throughout the year.
These have involved performances at Leeds Town Hall, the Gala Theatre in Durham and also at Woodham Academy’s first dance showcase. The audition is to be one of seven entertainment acts for an awards evening in London ‘Celebrating Success’.
The students involved have shown great commitment, determination and talent throughout the year and took full advantage of the opportunity of performing at RADA studios. All students performed with passion and were fully committed to the performance throughout.
Although they couldn’t give too much away, the judges were very complimentary about the performances and also commented on the professionalism of the Sports Academy students.
After the audition, as some of the students had never visited London, staff took them to see some of London’s most iconic monuments. These included Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace. To see all these places was a great experience for all students, however getting the chance to visit and perform at the highly regarded RADA institution made the day an unforgettable occasion.
