Sir,
The Town Council notified us, the volunteers in Friends of West Park, last week to immediately cease clearing the Lakes in West Park of Algae and weed. I have requested that this matter comes before the Council urgently. This is likely to be Wednesday 3rd September 7.15pm in the Council Offices which is our first meeting after the recess. Which the public are welcome to attend.
I want an immediate reappraisal of the Council’s policy on West Park Lakes as a West Ward Councillor, and the Friends of West Park are unanimous too in this respect. Residents and wider public and many visitors have expressed appreciation for the work we have done as unpaid volunteers at our own expense and in our own time, working with the Council  and I apologise for the delay in further clearing of the Lakes, until the Council meets to discuss this issue. In the meantime please feel free to express your views to your local councillors and in Newton News. The Council is there to serve you.
Cllr Arun M Chandran
West Ward
Secretary Friends of West Park
