Four volunteers from Newton Aycliffe are organising a Christmas Day Lunch to help those in our area who are lonely or in need. The meal will be held on Christmas Day at 1pm at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Shafto Way who have kindly given the use of their building for what will be a great day of service for the community. For those who are not be able to make their way to the venue there will be a free bus service which can also accommodate wheelchair users to be provided by John Angeletta. Gloria Cox whose idea it was to host the event said: “I wanted to give something on Christmas day for those people who don’t have anyone to spend the day and when you can feel more lonely than usual. It will also provide a pleasant environment where families can relax and enjoy Christmas Lunch cooked by a professional chef”.
Alan Joyce who will be preparing the meal has over 25 years experience as a chef and has a 5 star hygiene rating. He said he is looking forward to giving something back to the community. Sarah Cox owns Aycliffe Tyres on the Business Park and will be providing the funds for this great event. “We are happy as a business to donate to such a great cause and hopefully make people happy at this time of year. Any donations from local companies would be grateful, please get in touch from details below if you can help.
