On Friday 21st of March staff and volunteers from the YMCA shop in the Thames Centre will be sleeping rough in St. Cuthbert’s Churchyard, Darlington to raise money and awareness for youth homelessness. “Sleep Easy” challenges people to give up their bed and sleep in a cardboard box from 7pm until 7am to experience what homeless young people in the area endure every night on the streets.
Staff are accepting sponsorship in the shop and have received a really big response so far.”Everyone has really got behind us and the support from our customers has been great, thank you for your donations and the advice on how to keep warm!” said Emma. Money raised will directly helps the YMCA hostel in Darlington, which provides 31 rooms a night to young people who would otherwise be sleeping rough.
