MCYFC Aycliffe 7
Blackhall Monks FC 0
Another gutsy performance from these Aycliffe heroes. After suffering a heavy loss to Wrekenton last week, the team were composed and determined as we tried a new formation.
A fast start from Aycliffe saw them create several early chances, as they always do. It never took long to get off the mark, with a goal from Jake.
This was soon followed by three more goals from Chappers (penalty), Cruz and Ewan (first goal for the team) as the team started to turn the screw. The discipline on show was excellent as tackles were coming in hard and, sometimes, dangerous, as the away fans tried to spur their team on.
At the break, the game was 4-0, however, Blackhall were certainly not out of this game and it would take a further push in the second half. Introducing Joshua, Joseph and Harry to bolster up midfield and defence as the conditions were stamina-sapping.
Aycliffe didn’t disappoint with further goals from Harry and second goals for Cruz and Jake, putting the game out of sight and bringing three well-deserved points home.
Our first clean sheet was achieved and great teamwork with lots of running and tracking back, especially from Oscar, showing a great example of attackers doing defensive work also. Showing a determination to win.
Special mentions to Ollie Anderson for a great performance earning him Player of the Match. The opposition manager picked him out due to his constant driving out of defence with the ball, recovery tackles and his non-stop attempts to organise the defence.
Goals scored: Cruz x 2, Jake x 2, Harry x 1, Ewan x 1, Chappers x 1.
Next up is 3rd placed East Durham FC.
