Despite a poor return of nine points from their previous four games,  Gt Aycliffe travelled to Park View determined to show what they are capable of.
They came very close to providing a major upset and  in fact were unlucky not to take all eight points home with them. In the end they were beaten 1-7 but the score did not reflect the game as this was a very even match right up until the eleventh end.
At this stage Aycliffe were ahead on all three rinks and with ends running out looked on course for an 8-0 victory.
Unfortunately Aycliffe contrived to throw away all the previous good work as they  succumbed to  a late surge from the home side.
Rob Jones’ rink were one shot up, but then lost seven over the last three ends. P Whittaker suffered a similar fate. This rink was also one shot to the good and lost out on the last end where they dropped five shots. It was left to D McDonald to salvage a point with a well earned draw though it should have been more as they stood three shots up with two ends to play.
Not a good day for the Aycliffe bowlers but surely a sign of better results ahead.
