Heighington 4 – Herrington FC 1
A tough game for the lads today, but well worth it to get the 3 points. The Heighington boys were unbeaten going in to the game and it was always going to be a tough game against a mid table side. Heighington led from start to finish though and took the lead through an excellent well taken Isaac Turnbull goal and again just sinking another one, just before half time.
Second half saw the changes made and led to a second half goal from goalkeeper/outfielder Oskar Raine and finally finished off by a well taken hat trick from parents and coaches MOM Isaac Turnbull.
Throughout the game I couldn’t fault the hard work and commitment from Reuben, Tommy, Nate and Toby for working really hard and doing what was asked of them. Finally, a special mention to Jackson, who had a really good game in goal in the second half, saving lots of shots and seeing the game through.
We said to the boys at the end, we didn’t feel it was their best performance, but 3 points was the most important thing.
Scorers: Isaac x3, Oskar x1.
Parents & Managers MOM: Isaac T.

Heighington FC U10’s 3 – Newton Aycliffe Junior Blacks U10’s 1
Heighington were given a stern test this morning against an on form and very well organised Aycliffe side. The first half was a tight affair with both sides creating chances and some resilient defending on display. The lads got their breakthrough when Oliver Yates chased down a lost cause and kept the ball in play which created the chance for Jonah Wade to open the scoring with a calm finish to put us ahead. Isaac Morgan found himself on the scoresheet once again with a tight angle finish after a defence to attack breakout to make it 2-0 just before half time. A tight second half opened up in the last five minutes when Will Farrow burst into the box and slipped a lively ball under the keeper to make it 3-0. A spirited fightback saw Aycliffe break forward with a great move and deservedly sliced open the Heighington defence to make it 3-1 and were the pressing team going into the final whistle.
Well done to Adrian and his great Aycliffe side who were fantastic today in a game played in great spirit.
Well done to the Heighington boys who once again put on another great display to be proud of. A valuable lesson in why we chase lost causes and the possible rewards that come when we do.
MOTM: Jonah Wade, he was a handful when he came on and took his crucial first goal calmly, just when we needed it.
Well done to all involved and big shout out to our sponsors Sash Hardware.
