Heighington Whites U14s 3 v
Riverside Juniors Whites U14s 1
Heighington, with another home game this afternoon, started very quick lots of pressure and pressing the opponent from the off. Arthur Shotton soon broke through the defence to slot the Whites into an early lead after some great work in midfield by the ever improving Will, Lewis and Wilko. The game ended up a midfield battle until half time. 1-0 isn’t an easy score line and with Charlie Murrey being injured in the first half we went strong for the second half. Unfortunately, not everything goes to plan at times and Riverside equalised shortly after the second half started. Thankfully I have a midfield that can thread a pass and, with 10 minutes left, Lewis Linder sent Noah Myres in behind for him to calmly slot the ball past the on rushing keeper. Almost 5 minutes later and Will Moffat decided to action replay the second goal again for Noah to score his second of the match and take a well deserved 3 points. Theo, Olly, Kai, Murrey, C Dobson and Cruz were fantastic at the back today, under pressure at times but never really put a foot wrong, lads, brilliant performance, and Theo with some great saves when we really needed him. Dan, Chris, Finn, Will, Lewis, Arthur, Nathan, Noah and Wilko battled brilliantly throughout and never gave up. Very happy and proud of the team today dug out a great win against a big physical team.
MOTM: Cruz Denton, captain Cruz was played in defence after Charlie was injured and won everything that came near him, played balls up the line all game long and gave a great captains performance when his team needed him the most.
Heighington U11 v Fishburn Community U11
Heighington put in a positive all-round performance against an inexperienced Fishburn side. The red and blacks attacked from the off, in only their third game together, and soon took the lead thanks to Tommy’s neat finish, which came at the end of exciting team play. That gave the boys confidence to press forward with a mix of tricky dribbling, strong running and quick passing. Fishburn kept battling but Heighington had their tails up and solid defending from the home team provided a firm foundation for incisive attacks. Further goals came from Connor, Danny, Cameron, Noah and Levi. MOTM: Tommy not only bagged a hat-trick, but also improved in his defensive play and was a constant threat with his slaloming runs.
Heighington FC U12 7 – Leon U12 1
The Heighington U12 boys were in no mood for a sluggish start this morning and were out of the traps and 1-0 up after 30 seconds courtesy of captain LF7. The lads carried on pinning back the opposition but just couldn’t seem to find the second goal to calm us down until Jack entered the fray from the bench and fired in our second. Matty quickly added our third after a fantastic assist from Jamie which gave Heighington a well earned 3-0 lead at half time.
The second half saw Sammy pick up a loose ball in midfield, he bulldozed his way into the opposition box and a delicate finish snuck under the opposition keeper to make it 4-0. Jonah Harrop continued his fantastic start at Heighington by scoring our fifth and shortly after LF7 sent a delightful corner into the opposition box, which was deflected in by a defender for an OG to make it 6-0. Bruno made it 7 with a trademark ice man finish – a just reward after a fantastic game showing tremendous strength and work rate all match.
A great performance from front to back today by ALL the Heighington kids. They really pulled together and looked like a great team who worked for each other. Brilliant in terms of football, attitude and approach.
MOTM: Mitchell Stapleton, worked like a trojan all morning, I lost count of his vital clearances and put everything into his performance
Big shout out and thank you to Chris Harper and the SASH Hardware gang for their support for our boys.
