On last week’s Around Town we had local entrepreneurs Amber and Jason, the driving force behind the new enterprise Hashtag Hair Limited. It’s always a pleasure to have young people in the studio who have a vision and a desire to make their mark in the business world, and new businesses opening up in the town are always a good and positive sign.
“We are so excited to start this new journey together, we have both worked incredibly hard to get to this point where our dream has become a reality. We still have some final preparations to do in the salon so we will keep everyone updated with the progress, and thank you to everyone who’s supported and believed in us on the journey.”
Our other guests on the show were Mandy and Charlotte from Unique Abilities, a local support group which is organised and run by people who have disabilities themselves or have children with disabilities or special educational needs.
The group runs a sensory session at the Neville Community Centre on the third Saturday of the month, in addition to support groups, workshops, days out and other various activities. They have a ‘closed’ page on social media which provides support, advice and guidance and allows people to ask for advice and guidance in a safe and non judgemental space. They also signpost people in order for them to receive the correct support for things like medical help and diagnoses, and support and guidance with filling forms in such as DLA, EHCPS etc.
They are a non-profit organisation, who currently don’t receive any funding, so they raise funds themselves with support from family and friends. The aim of their group is to ensure nobody feels isolated or alone, and have someone to reach out to, and parents and children get the chance to socialise with other people in a safe and non judgemental environment.
