Greenfield Academy has witnessed a transformation this summer, with regards to its sporting facilities, thanks to a significant investment in its grass football pitches. The school, in collaboration with the football foundation, has invested in four pitches on its premises – two 9V9 pitches, one youth football 11V11 pitch, and a full-size adult men’s 11v11 football pitch. After years of limited use, these pitches are now set to become a hub for local community football.
The substantial investment, a joint effort by the school itself and a generous football foundation grant, spanning the next six years and amounting to around £60,000, signifies a new chapter for grassroots football in the area. Several local football clubs, including both men’s and women’s teams, have begun to benefit from these upgraded surfaces since September. Such football clubs include: Newton Aycliffe Youth FC, Newton Aycliffe Junior Section FC, AJX FC, Cobblers Hall Over 40’s Men’s FC and Roundhouse FC. The improved pitches are a much-needed resource for nurturing youth and adult football talent within our community, and Greenfield Academy is proud to be at the front of this effort.
Additionally, Greenfield Academy’s sports lettings business, formerly Greenfield Community Sports, has also evolved into ALP Active at Greenfield Academy. This change brings with it a new business model whereby hiring Greenfield’s sporting facilities is now exclusively via an online platform – SchoolHire.
