Dear Sir,
I am writing to you about people’s attitude toward the disabled. I was born with a disability which affects my mobility. I have had to put up with people’s attitudes, which can be very hurtful.
Two years ago I had calcification of the tendon in my right leg which snapped, I had to wear a support boot and be in a wheelchair.
My husband, who himself has a disability, had to purchase the wheelchair and push me around in it. The amount of times we have incurred abuse from people just for me being in it is numerous; snide remarks life “what is she doing in that”, “she doesn’t need it” etc., also how people just walk in front of you, let doors go etc.
My confidence has taken a severe hit and I am now fearful of going out.
