On Sunday 11th September members from CrossFit All Out took on ‘Reuben’s WOD Challenge’ after member Peter Todd, who is a physical training instructor in the RAF, requested that they participate in the challenge set up by his friend to help raise money for a mother’s last dying wish. Sandy (Reuben’s mum) was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma earlier this year. She now has only months, even weeks, left to live, and sadly will be leaving her husband and 2-year-old boy Reuben behind. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help raise funds to support Reuben financially when he grows up. This workout challenge was introduced as another means of raising money for Reuben.
Each member at All Out paid £6 or more to enter the challenge, with the majority teaming up in pairs to complete the workout. It was a long WOD (workout of the day), taking the majority of members 30-60 minutes to complete. The community all came together, cheering each other on, to get the workout finished. Overall, £160 was raised by members doing this workout, with All Out being one of the top gyms for number of members participating in the challenge.
Peter Todd said, “Wow, what an awesome turnout for Reuben’s WOD Challenge, thank you all for your support. I would say I am surprised but I am not, the community spirit and support for one another is out of this world and testament to what Coach Tez and the Team have built at CrossFit All Out. My only regret is not joining sooner. I am sure Reuben will be forever grateful of your generosity. Please continue to share and support Reuben’s WOD Challenge.”
