Yet another blank week for many of our teams, as the Oakleaf pitches were just not quite dry enough to play football.
Norton & Stockton 3 v Aycliffe U14 Angels 3 (4-5 on Penalties)
County Cup Semi Final. A monumental effort from the players after going behind on three occasions – battling back each time. Down to the bare bones of a team with two debuts and players returning from illness. Goals from Romilly, Faith and then Romilly meant 3-3 at full time. All five penalty takers (Evie, Amy, Romilly, Eveie & Erin) all scored their penalties for a 5-4 win. Star players Charli & Evie.
Aycliffe U13 Eagles 9 v TIBS 1
Aycliffe started a little rusty with not having a game for a while but soon found their form and scored a bag full Rossi x 2, Evan x 2, Olly x 2, Jack V, Harley and Cameron. A great result with some brilliant goals scored but all working hard for the team from front to back. A massive well done to everyone. MoM shared between Leiland and Dan K.
Aycliffe U7 Eagles v Darlington RA Rockets
Another cup game for the U7 Eagles against a good physical team. The boys played fantastic with goals from Henrie, Luke and 4 from Oliver. We passed the ball about well and created lots of chances. Special mention to Oscar who played brilliant in goal. Well done to the whole team.
Sleights 0 v Aycliffe U14 Eagles 1
Six-Pointer Game! Sometimes football isn’t pretty, which means to get a win – you need to ride your luck and take a chance, when it comes along, to get the result. That’s exactly what the lads did on a heavy pitch, which made the long journey worth it and the ride home satisfying. Goal: Edward. MOMs Jenson & Will.
Aycliffe U9 Eagles v Prissick Rovers
A complete performance from Aycliffe, solid & generally untroubled in defence & displaying positive direct attacking play going forwards. Key passes were the difference with the Eagles repeatedly playing through the centre of the field. Alex B scored a first half hat-trick, the opposition could not deal with his pace and power. MOTM Rogan R.
Thornaby Town v Aycliffe U8 Eagles
The boys started really well on a difficult pitch and were unlucky to fall a goal behind to a great strike. Austin took the game into his own hands and scored a wonderful solo goal before the break. The boys conceded a couple of goals against the run of play but never give up and Ollie scored another great goal following a good team move.
Washington 0 v Aycliffe U12 Wildcats 2
This was the first league game in 9 weeks and only our second in 10. We were expecting a tight game against opponents that beat us both games last season. It was an even first half with only one or two chances each. HT 0-0. Second half continued in the same way, however slowly, we started to take control and scored two second half goals through Phoebe.
Marton FC v Aycliffe U10 Wildcats
First match after a long break and the girls looked like they’d never been away. Penny, Erin and Alice H were rock solid at the back. Alice R scored just before half time from an Elsie cross, after a perfect pass from Sophie. The girls played some excellent football and worked tirelessly for each other off the ball. Goal: Alice R. POTMs Alice H & Erin.
Aycliffe U8 Wildcats v Sunderland City
A good all-round performance with three early goals allowing the girls to control the game.
Goals: Emelia 3, Matilda and Sophie. Strong performances from Willow, Alice, Ella and Layla made for a good day.
