Another weather disrupted weekend for our boys and girls:
Under 6 Eagles (boys) and Under 7 Wildcats (girls)
Our two newest teams are preparing for friendlies, leading to joining the league in September 2023. The boys and girls have been working well in training, but we still have a couple of places left in each team. If you are interested contact Berni 07939 045242.
(Under 6’s Boys – Year 1 and Under 7’s Girls – Year 2)
U9 Eagles v Seaton Carew
Aycliffe Eagles Under 9’s were 2-0 down before the lads found their rhythm and started playing well together when Will won the ball in the middle and played it through to George D to beat the keeper. George H made a great save to keep it at 2-1. With five minutes to go Floyd swung in the corner from the right and Louie H timed his run perfectly to smash it into the back of the net.
Hetton Juniors 0 v U13 Angels 2
Top of the league Angels travelled to 4th place Hetton which meant this would be a tough game. Four players missing and some others recovering from illness meant we had to put in a big performance. We did. Some incredible performances from individuals as well as the team overall. Goals from Sophie & Erin. Star players Charli and Heidi.
Under 8 Eagles v Darlington RA
First half the Eagles were very dominant and raced into a comfortable 4-0 lead. With lots of boys involved today the second half saw several changes to the team which disrupted the flow from the first half but the second half was played with the same effort and, although Darlington responded well, the Eagles ended winners.
Washington Athletic 0 v U12 Girls 2
The girls faced a tougher than expected opposition in difficult playing conditions. The game was about 50/50 in respect of possession and scoring opportunities with not much between both teams throughout the game. However, in the last 10 minutes Washington seamed to drop off the pace leaving us to score twice in the closing stages.
U9 Wildcats v Darlington Locomotives
Darlo started brightly and had plenty of possession but Erin & Brooke were at the top of their game in defence, along with Penny in goal. The Wildcats found the breakthrough though, via Sophie courtesy of Elsie’s assist. Early in the second half Darlo got an equaliser. But the girls retook the lead with a well-struck free-kick from Brooke. Darlo searched for the equaliser but the girls dug deep to see it out.
U10 Eagles v Thornley
The first game back for the U10’s since mid December and there was a bit of ring rust as we looked to get back to some of the football we were playing before the break. At times we showed flashes of the sort of football we can play and with this one out of the way we’ll be looking to cement our way of playing with some of the new things we have spoke about over the next few games.
U10 Girls v Cleveland Hall
The undefeated streak continued on Saturday for the U10 girls with a strong performance and a convincing win, with goals from Poppy B x 3, Poppy H, Phoebe, OG. MOTM goes to Grace who had a really strong game at the back.
U10 Girls v South Tyneside
Second game of the weekend, on Sunday, to catch up on postponed fixtures, saw the girls travel with a depleted squad for a tough game. The girls showed signs of tiredness but kept battling to the end but the undefeated run came to an end.
