The Turbinia, has been chosen by ‘Campaign for Real Ale’ members to feature in this year’s famous beer bible. The only Newton Aycliffe pub ever to be included in it’s 42 year history Owner Gary commented “This is a great accolade not just for the pub and staff, but also the customers that have supported us over the years. To feature in the country’s premier drinks guide is an honour, because we were chosen by ‘CAMRA’ members who are very passionate and knowledgeable about the quality of cask ales. The selection process, not only took into account the quality and condition of our beers, but also the massive choice we make available to our customers, last year in the Turbinia, people sampled 132 different beers from 81 different breweries, sourcing beers from all over the UK, and this year we are well on target to beat that. As well searching countrywide for interesting beers, we are keen to support local breweries, with ‘Yard Of Ale’ (Ferryhill) ‘George Samuel Brewing’(Spennymoor) and ‘Mithril Ales’ (Aldbrough St John) as part of the ‘LocALE’ scheme, featuring on the bar, we are also pleased to stock a range of excellent bottled beers by Aycliffe’s own ‘Steam Machine Brewery’ Our choice of 4 ales is a mix of styles, including bitters, porters, pale ales, stouts, cask lagers, and more, so there is always something for everyone, and normally under £3 a pint, offering excellent value. A very important part of our pub calendar is our twice yearly beer festivals, the next of which, is in a couple of weeks, 20th – 25th Oct, the oc’TURB’erfest,  featuring 16 craft ales & 2 craft ciders, with FREE entertainment all weekend. Watch this space for news of a cider festival next summer, with plans already being put in place. Hopefully that’s whet your appetite for a  brew or two, so get yourself along to the Tub, and find out why ‘CAMRA’ rate it so highly.
