It was a very busy weekend last week for several gymnasts from Athena Gymnastic Academy which is based in both Shildon and Newton Aycliffe as they competed in South Shields in the North of England NDP acro regional finals at the Temple Park Leisure Centre. The competition for a place in the finals in Stoke was hotly contested by many clubs within the North East with clubs represented from Durham, Teesside and Tyneside, all competing for that valued place in the finals. The gymnasts from Athena, many who were competing in a major competition for the first time, all did the club and it’s coaches really proud and came away with some really good scores. The club sent 8 teams to the competition of which 4 medalled in the relevant grades.

Womens’ Group: Amber McNeal, Frances Andelin & Katie Andelin, Abbie Ramsey, Shakira Palmer, Sophie Andelin, Rebecca Carr, Katie McLaren, Chloe Miller, Zoe Jackson, Maddy Wood, Charlotte Dent.
Mixed Pairs: Arran Fuller and Amelia Dent, Daniel Wilkinson & Esther.
Young Mixed Pairs: Calvin Beaton & Isabel Petty, Joseph Dunn & Evie Tombling
