Nominations are open until Friday, 13 April.

Cllr Olwyn Gunn, Cabinet member for children and young people’s services, said: “Learning provides people with the skills and confidence which can transform their lives and this is a great opportunity to recognise the work they do.

“Both learners and those who teach them deserve to be celebrated and I’m sure we will have plenty of worthy nominations in each of this year’s categories.”

The ceremony is taking place as part of the Festival of Learning, the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in England.

Durham County Council’s Adult Learning and Skills Service works with local communities to deliver training and help change lives for the better.

Courses include a broad range of opportunities for personal development, support for health and well-being and the chance to gain skills and qualifications for further education and employment.
