Dear Sir,

While aboard the town service Bus No.18, run by JSB, myself and several passengers were made aware that this service is to end in June or July.

The bus has been an excellent service for a lot of years with polite, friendly drivers willing to wait if we are running for the bus and the drivers knowing passengers by name and where they get off.

We are told that fuel costs and driver’s wages are not covered by the number of passengers that use this service, but some today said they would contribute  £1 per journey to enable the bus to remain in service.

A lot of pensioners will now find that they have a very long walk to get an Arriva Bus and will not have a convenient bus to Cobblers Hall for PCP and shops or Simpasture for weekly meetings.

This service must not go – it is a lifeline for the elderly, disabled and others wishing to shop in the Town Centre.

Ann Dunn.
