Students from Woodham Academy recently returned from their snow sports trip to the Aosta Valley in Italy. The group skied and boarded in the resort of Pila which has stunning panoramic views of the Swiss border, including famous landmarks such as Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.
The group of 44 students acquitted themselves extremely well and showed excellent character and resilience, overcoming the challenges presented by learning a new skill in the mountain environment. In addition to daily snow sports tuition, students enjoyed an après-ski programme which included a tour of the town of Aosta, where there are many Roman ruins dating back over 2000 years.
Mr Morgans, Deputy Headteacher at Woodham, said: “It’s wonderful to see the huge strides students make in so many different ways when they’re participating in such a trip. Along with activities like The Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme these opportunities demonstrate Woodham Academy’s continual commitment to offering educational experiences beyond that of the formal curriculum.”
