Well, there are no words. When I got up on Monday morning at 5.45am to clean and refresh my rescue hoggies cages (all eleven of them), my containers, that I keep the kibble in were empty. A debt of gratitude go to Jo and Nev from Community Spirit, who kindly donated some Purina Kitten kibble x2 big bags from Grannies Choice, also 100 puppy pads which are a must because sometimes my hoggies are very mucky pups.
Another thanks go to Valerie and June for their hard work and also Hazel for her donation.
There is absolutely no chance of me being registered as either a CIC or a registered charity, so I am continuing to carry on rehabbing, it’s what I do best, the added strain I can do without. The response I have had from my friends, supporters and people whom I have just met, Georgina and Ian, has been phenomenal, thank you all.
To be quite honest, saving Britain’s Hedgehogs is the hardest thing I’ve ever done and the added strain of fundraising doubles the pressure, it’s a balancing act at the best of times. I never thought I would overwinter so many, about 20 of these I have came in as babies, Itsy, Bitsy, Autumn, Holly, Pixie and Penny, Reggie and Buster, to name but a few, but they are all here and doing very well indeed, but we aren’t releasing any yet.
Hedgehogs are starting to wake up from hibernation, please try and support feed wherever possible and also a CD size hole for a hedgehog highway so they can access gardens safely. All they want to do is eat and drink, we also need responsible dog owners to keep their dogs under control if they see a hedgehog in their garden, these mammals are endangered and protected under the wildlife act.
Thank you.
