Greenfield Community College reached the regional finals of the national poetry slam “Shake the Dust” which was organised by Apples & Snakes and ARC Stockton, and was held at ARC on Saturday 16th June 2012.  The 7 young people from Greenfield: Josh Paramor, Sam Hansom, Brad Rodgers, Megan Cross, Zoe Blakey, Emily Rollo and Joel Wraith, were absolutely superb on stage at the regionals and did their very best performances ever!
They were only 1 or 2 points away from 1st place winners, Sacred Heart, Stockton.  Our students worked with two amazing, inspirational and creative performance poets, Kate Fox and Steve Urwin. Both artists helped the year 9’s to develop their writing, imagination, free writing and performance skills and helped the students to exceed their potential.  We are very proud of all those who have been involved throughout the process and we would like to thank all those involved including Mrs Douglas and her class, Miss Walker and the senior management at Greenfield Community College.
We are looking forward to using some of the great ideas we explored in the creative process and Greenfield Community and Arts Centre are planning some professional development to share the experience and ideas with others.  Well done Greenfield.  For more information contact the Arts Centre at info@greenfield-arts.co.uk
