It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club, for both the Adult and Junior Section.
On Saturday 20th January, four members took part in the inaugural Newcastle 10k. Max Todd (43:32), who is one of the juniors and taking part in the elite section of the race, finished in a superb time of 43:32. Viv Williams (1:04:09), Evelina Dogley (1:04:10) and Ian Stothard (1:13:39) also represented the club.
On Sunday 21st January, eight members took part in the iconic Brass Monkey Half Marathon York. The race saw some testing conditions with the start of Storm Isha. Representing the club were Matt Muir (1:27:43) achieving a new personal best, Trevor Dixon (1:29:47), Anthony Dickinson (1:32:05) which was a new personal best, Kieron O’Connor (1:32:13) with a new personal best, Gary O’Connor (1:37:36), Mark Bainbridge (1:55:48), Heather Bainbridge (2:19:24) and Em Flynn (2:37:42).
On the same day, one member travelled to Cheshire for the 40th Essar Four Villages Half Marathon. Judith Porter was the sole representative for the club finishing in a time of 2:30:28.
In the Junior Section, the Under 11 Juniors took part in the indoor sports hall County Durham Athletics Qualifier on Sunday 21st January. This saw a fantastic performance by all our juniors and a strong team qualifying for the regional finals. Well done to Jenson, Will, Joseph, Joe, Luke, Elijah, Farrah and Rosie.

On Saturday, 36 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Durham, Windy Nook, Sedgefield, Riverside, Burgess, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Heslington, Jubilee, Oaklands and Wynyard Woodland events.
At Durham, Sandrine Hewitt (31:55) completed the course for the first time. Over at Sedgefield, John Surtees (18:21) finished second with Tracey Surtees (22:33) finishing as first female. Heather Bainbridge (32:13) also completed the course for the first time.
Sarah Gill (26:10) completed the event at Burgess for the first time. At Hackworth, Bernadette Cooper (24:44) finished as second female. At Hartlepool, Richard Trowles (19:23) finished fourth with Angela Sutheran (25:06) also taking part. Em Flynn (32:35) completed the event at Heslington for the first time using it as a warm up for the Brass Monkey Half Marathon. At Jubilee, Daniel Tatham (24:16) set a new person best for the course with Tracey Pickering (34:17) also taking part.
At Oaklands, Paul Dalton (22:00) and Jayne Rudd (29:11) both completed the event for the first time. At Wynyard Woodland, Gareth Hamblin (21:01) completed the course for the first time with Shaun Dodd (24:10) also taking part.
