Conditions were good for the latest race in the Stockton Winter Trail series over 5K, which was held at Preston Park.
Aycliffe veterans once again did exceptionally well with many achieving first place in their age categories. However, Mark Wade was first home for the club in 2nd position in the excellent time of 18:50, followed by Peter Milburn, 11th in 20:40, 1st M/55 and Graham Atkins, 19th in 21:35. Next to cross the line was Matt Heron, 28th in 21:57, followed by Steve Smith, 33rd in 22:12 and Michelle Scott who was first female finisher for the club, 36th in 22:23. John Burnside was next finisher, 46th in 22:50 and 1st M/60, followed by Alan Wilks, 58th in 23:30, 1st M/65 and Michelle Zamir, 59th in 23:32. Michelle Jane was next over the line, 62nd in 23:38, followed by Dave Blewitt, 75th in 24:11 and Trevor Needham, 76th in 24:14. Peter Smith was next to cross the line, 79th in 24:23, followed by Sandra Collins, 89th in 25:06, 1st F/50 and Susan Milburn, 107th in 25:51 and 1st F/55. Finally Dave Mackenzie finished 189th in 31:45.
Only one of our members took part in the 8 mile Poultry Run at Loftus. This is a Christmas themed race with generous prizes of poultry and festive hampers.
Out of over 450 runners Clare Rose finished 221st in the time of 70:13. In the Saltwell Park 10K Trish Kay finished 258th out of over 400 runners in the time of 53mins.
