For the past four years Rotarians, their friends and families, in Newton Aycliffe have participated in a Reverse Advent Collection for the foodbanks. Traditionally each day in December we open a door/box of our Advent Calendars and take out a gift.
In November, Rotarians, their friends and families, place food, toiletries etc into a box. In December, these are distributed to our food banks to assist with stock for the Christmas school holidays, when there is greatest need. Rotarian Pat Pickersgill invites residents of our town to consider participating in this very worthwhile initiative which is a great exercise in teaching children that it is better to give than to receive.
Perhaps you work in an office, school, hospital or business where you can invite colleagues to contribute some items. The boxes, (not essential, any suitable container will do) are kindly supplied by Newton Press and the accompanying stickers and leaflets are printed by Rotarian Brian Winwood.
If you would like a box delivered to you, or if you would like goods collecting, please ring Rotarian Pat Pickersgill on 07971 082589. Alternatively, a drop off point will be available between 11am and 1pm on Saturday 2nd December 2023 in the car park at The Big Club, Sheraton Road, Newton Aycliffe DL5 5NU. All donations are welcome.
