Delivering the extraordinary is all in a day’s work for a new and determined recruitment agency who have put down firm roots on Aycliffe Business Park.
Whurk Recruitment based in St Cuthbert’s House is the brainchild of Managing Director Laura Claughan, 27 from Willington, who has worked in the industry for 10 years.
“I could see there was a gap in the market and wanted to bring back strong relationships with candidates and clients in order to find the right person for the job. I often had clients and candidates asking if I specifically could help them and one day decided to go it alone. It took guts to do it and make the move; but I am so glad that I did.” said Laura.
Laura is on a mission to make Whurk recruitment stand out from the crowd bringing a fresh but traditional approach to the sector.
“Taking time to find the most suitable person and finding out what the candidate or the client wants is crucial. We don’t just look at streams of CVs, we actually work hard to find the right personality that fits” said Laura.
Whurk Recruitment provides temporary and permanent recruitment solutions in six key areas including manufacturing, engineering and technical, warehouse and distribution, contact centre, business support and executive search.
Laura started the company earlier this year and has spent considerable time training her team on a one to one basis to pass on her own skills and knowledge of the industry.
“When we visit a new client it is important we take time to really understand their business and what kind of person is going to be a benefit to them. We build relationships with our clients and become an extension of their team, someone they can rely on to bring the right result. Within a three month period Laura has gone from operating solo to a team of five, based on successful results achieved with clients and repeat business secured.
Whurk recruitment currently work with clients of all sizes and disciplines, both here in the North-East and elsewhere in the country including Manchester and Luton.
Choosing to operate from Ayciffe Business Park was an easy decision for Laura to make.
“The location is fantastic,” Laura added. “It’s amazing we often get phone calls from people who are on their way home noticed us on the way past; it is a brilliant place to be seen and a great opportunity to support businesses here.”
