Last week saw the launch evening for Woodham Academy’s new More Able Academy. This follows the success of Woodham Sports Academy, providing a bespoke package of extra curricular opportunities for the academically most able. Students from all age groups have chosen to sign up to the programme, completing contracts to demonstrate their commitment. Features of the programme include GCSE astronomy, guest speakers and enrichment visits to colleges and universities in order to raise aspiration. In addition, as a way of developing students’ cultural experiences, there will be a variety of residential visits, including London and European capital cities.
The first of those visits will be to Rome in July 2016. All of the students, parents and teachers involved in the More Able Academy are very excited by the opportunities and challenges ahead.
