Although Luke was top goal scorer at Hartlepool last season, goals have eluded him since he signed for Doncaster Rovers at the beginning of this season. Then on Saturday 11th February, away to Swindon, the dry spell was broken and Luke scored not one but two goals.
In the 71st minute Luke collected the ball wide on the right, cut inside, darted into the box and drilled a low effort home into the bottom right hand corner from his left foot. Two minutes later Luke doubled the advantage again with his left foot and slammed the ball home into the bottom left hand corner. Job done!!
Rovers won 2-0 and Luke was voted Man of the Match by the fans for his performance and goals.
On Tuesday 14th February Doncaster Rovers played Barrow and Luke’s confidence was obvious from scoring two goals in the previous game and this showed in his performance. He was voted Man of the Match by his sponsors who presented Luke with a bottle of Champagne and he presented them with the match ball after the game. It was an eventful night as the floodlights went out ten minutes before the end of the game and it was not certain whether it would continue. The game did resume and Doncaster Rovers won 1-0.
