It was a super turnout for the first birthday party of the Welcome Club which meets at St Clare’s every Tuesday. On Tuesdays 27th September we had the pleasure of meeting this friendly club and what a spread they put on. The volunteers did us proud with high tea and delicious cakes for all.
As Mayor and Mayoress we were presented with party hats to help us blend in and great fun was had by all, I am ashamed to say that we didn’t do very well with the quiz but then again someone must be last.
I am always in awe of the work and commitment put in by volunteers in our community and the unselfish way they put themselves out to make everyone welcome. This club is aptly named the Welcome Club as all involved are friendly and hospitable. Why not pop along and see for yourself each Tuesday at 11.00, it is a great way to make new friends or even have lunch with old mates.
St Clare’s is an impressive church which has worked with the community since its inception and is home to many community organisations serving Newton Aycliffe.
Many, many thanks for the invitation
Cllr Ken Robson, Mayor of Great Aycliffe,
Elaine Robson, Mayoress of Great Aycliffe.
