Husqvarna, an international company with a factory base in Newton Aycliffe, has joined Aycliffe Pride organisers with an aim to reduce the ticket price, during the cost of living crisis, down to last year’s low cost of £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for under 18s, making the event affordable for all. This price is available online at www.ayclifferadio.co.uk/tickets and at various outlets over the counter.
This welcomed intervention from Husqvarna will ensure more family members can enjoy the great atmosphere and superb ‘wannabee’ artistes at this year’s festival.
Jason Heaney-Merryweather, Senior HRBP at Husqvarna, said: “We are extremely excited to be supporting Aycliffe Pride! We are always looking for opportunities to get involved in the local community and what better way to do this than to show our support for the LGBTQ+ community. We want to help to make this event a continued success and hope that everybody enjoys the day!”
We are proud to be able to bring the second Pride Festival in Newton Aycliffe, supporting diversity and inclusion for the Pride Community to be held at ROF59 Arena on Saturday 1st July from 12noon to 6.00pm with a diverse range of tribute acts including, Joe Tilly as ‘Freddy Mercury’, Andy Crosbie as ‘Elton John’, Mike Hyde as ‘Gary Barlow’, local youth group Pink Lemonade, HC Theatre Group and Cassandra Bowtell’s ‘Sing It’ Academy of Song and Dance. Our headline act for 2023 are the very talented, ‘SPICEY GIRLS’, a group of five accomplished ladies who look and sound incredibly like the original Spice Girls. Returning for a second year is our host, MX Drag Queen England Winner 2022, Lavender Love, who will be performing drag acts in between changeovers.
The day will also include a wide selection of stalls, licensed bars, fairground attractions and rides, face painter, food concession stands including a burger stall, ice cream van and cake stall.
The organisers are grateful for the support of Husqvarna, Aycliffe Town Centre Management and Unity Foster Care, who are sponsoring the event during Newton Aycliffe’s 75th Anniversary. All profits from this event will go to local charities to aid with diversity and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community.
