A group of students from Greenfield Community College joined Greenfield Arts staff for a trip to “Lumiere” Durham’s Festival of Light. They braved the opening night crowds to see the fantastic installations on display in the City centre and University campus, including a fish tank in a phone box, a fantastic projection onto Durham Cathedral and some ethereal dresses made of light.
The trip was organised and funded by Greenfield Arts as part of the “Arts Passport” programme of events and activities. “Arts Passport” is a programme the Arts Centre launched last year to encourage students at Greenfield Community College to take part in more arts, performing arts and cultural events and activities outside of lesson time. Trips and activities are organised throughout the year and students are encouraged to search out opportunities in their own time as well to gain a “stamp” in their passport.
This is the sixth Arts Passport event this term so far, we are looking forward to our trip to “Enchanted Parks” in Gateshead in December and more activities in 2014!
