Agnew Community Association has used the funding from Cllr Joan Gray and Cllr Paul Gittin’s Neighbourhood Budgets (£3266.) to purchase and install a new double fire door, a new PA System and also carry out improvements to the outside of the community centre. These improvements include new gates; fencing and garden play area for our nursery aged children.

The centre was built in 2009 and is extremely well-used, hosting activities such as; a nursery, disability sports club and the PK Allstars kids club for young people aged 7 – 11 years. The club is used by approximately 35 young people on a weekly basis.

The community centre is a registered Charity and relies on income generated by the hiring of rooms. Adam White, GAMP Coordinator, said: “Supporting the town’s voluntary organisations is a priority for GAMP and assisting the Agnew Community Centre with funding has allowed them to progress their plans.

Earlier in the year the centre also secured funding from the GAMP Small Grants Fund for £963, to purchase a Laptop Computer and Digital Projector with mobile screen.

Ron Mitchie, secretary, said: “The trustees and committee of the centre greatly appreciate the support they have received from County Councillors Joan Gray and Paul Gittins and the GAMP team. The funding will make our centre and grounds ever more safe and user friendly for the benefit of local residents and user groups.”
