Sedgefield Water Polo Club held their annual Club Swimming Gala at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. Being really swimming fit and fast is a massive part of being a good water polo player, so a lot of time is spent on serious swimming training.

Scott Carpenter who is flying the flag so successfully for Sedgefield WPC in Australia, is the fastest swimmer ever from this region with a recent 100m freestyle of 49.8 in Australia.

Ben Stephenson had a clean sweep of all 4 events in the boys 12 years events. Jake Plant 13 won 3 out of 4 events with an excellent 60.8 in the 100m Freestyle. Ben Alderson and Saul Robinson both 7 each won 2 events each in the under 8 races and showed great potential for the future. Hollie Turnbull 11 had an excellelent clean sweep in the 12 years events.

Niall Coulthard 10 won 3 out of 4 events in the 10 years races. Sebastian Reichel 16 made a clean sweep of the open boys events and did an excellent 57.8 in the 100m freestyle.

Rhiannon Foulds playing for GB juniors this week in Barcelona easily won all 4 open events for girls.
