RFYL under 8s

Bitter sweet for our young guns today, 2 games in the wind was always going to be a big ask.

Chester Town Lions 6 – 4 Heighington FC

Heighington FC 7 – 2 Chester Town Jets

Missed out on the title but very proud of 2nd place. 1st season together and most of these kids first experience of football. They did amazingly well to pick themselves up for the second game and clinch promotion.

We are swiftly moving on with a tournament next weekend and a busy pre season.

Heighington Whites 3-0 Darlington Young Bulls.

This was our first game in 3 weeks and we had a debut for Charlie Murray, welcome to the team.

The match started with Young Bulls playing 3 at the back to try and nullify the Whites fast attacks.

Attack after attack from the Whites forced young bulls keeper into numerous saves. The breakthrough finally came when Chris won the ball back and fired low into the bottom corner.

2 further goals in the 2nd half from Oscar and MOM Dan led the Whites to victory. The score line could have easily been another 5 or 6 had it not been for their keeper who had an amazing game and rightly so collected the MOM.

Credit where credit is due Young Bulls competed all games and have improved massively since our last encounter.

We started this team in August and the boys have worked their socks off for each other week in week out. Myself and James are so proud of what they have achieved so far and we know they can and will get better as a team. Well done to you all – Lochlann, Harry, Joseph, Charlie, Lucas, Kyran, Cruz, Benjamin, Oscar, Chris and Daniel.

This season we have played 12 league games, 10 wins and 2 draws. Absolutely amazing.

Heighington Blacks 2 – 1 Newton Aycliffe Juniors

Heighington beat Newton Aycliffe Juniors 2-1 to claim back to back wins over the Clarets, with goals from Oliver Malsbury and a wonder strike from Cole Raine allowing David Raine’s side to reduce the gap at the top of the league on Sunday. The crowd went wild with emotion and DR could be seen running onto the pitch celebrating with his team.

Malsbury opened the scoring in the “Newtonian” derby in the 5th minute when the unmarked winger latched on to a free kick to chip the oncoming keeper. Throughout the match the Blacks defensive unit of Malco, Rose, Brown & Wilkinson kept Juniors at bay and controlled the game. Moving forwards the Blacks had a number of chances and with constant pressure from Robson, who has a few chances that hit the post, Raine & Malsbury supported a high line defence.

Aycliffe equalised with 8 minutes remaining when an Aycliffe shot was deflected into the net, well deserved equaliser due to constant pressure at the Heighington goal.

However, Heighington reclaimed the lead in the 37th minute when Raine scored when McKenna pulled it back to him with a sublime back heel and Raine shot from 20 yards out with 70mph speed past the stranded Juniors keeper.
