This week Five Acres Community Garden have taken delivery of 450 tree saplings, this is in conjunction with a nationwide incentive and part of the Conservation Volunteers ‘I Dig Trees Project.’
We have been given a range of trees including oak, birch, hawthorns and trees native to Great Britain. Our champions and parents have been busy this week potting them out and placing them in our dedicated nursery, in anticipation of our new Brafferton site where we will form a woodland area.
Our champions feel a sense of achievement and have been looking forward to the delivery day, working on their tree planting tool kits to enable them to learn the skills needed to plant the trees.
