Dear Sir,
The media today is all about the Nurses / Ambulance workers and strikes by other public sector workers. I can speak with some knowledge on this, as I worked in the NHS, the problem has been ongoing for some years and it has only now come to a head.
People seem to be surprised, but I would like to inform readers of what has happened.
I worked as a specialist technician, called a Maxillofacial Technician, which basically meant we rebuilt the facial structure in the case of a road traffic accident or Cancer in the aw or other facial problems.
I left that profession due to long hours and low pay, when I found that I could make more and get regular hours working in the industrial sector. This happened long before I came to live in the North East.
I believe that the government has got it all wrong, I don’t know of any MP who understands the jobs that people do in the NHS, also the frustration and abuse that is experienced from patients, there is more to it than just pay. Along with other people in the country who have spoken that they support the health workers I would like to see any Conservative member or politician come out and work on the wards for the pay the members of the NHS receive and then they would see what the problems are, then hopefully accept the grievance that NHS workers have.
I fully support the nurses strike, which I believe was not taken lightly, as the majority are very caring people, they also care for the NHS. Whilst the Government keep saying that they will honour the result of the pay review body, but wasn’t that the claim before Covid hit and, if they were meeting now what would the result be? Perhaps the Government should reconvene the pay review body.
