Every third Sunday at 5.30pm (next one 15th October), the lovely St Michael’s Church in Heighington welcomes everyone to an Evening of Song led by Vicar Lissa Scott and accompanied by St Michael’s worship band. Ancient churches, such as St Michael’s which dates from before the12th century, tend to be associated with solemn, traditional services, but our evening services are very different.
The band includes guitars, keyboard, drums and singers and its members range in age from 8 to 82 years old. There really is something for everybody on offer, including a warm welcome with refreshments provided. When everyone has had their fill, and a good chat, the fun begins.
Following a theme, introduced by Lissa, the band leads in the song part of the evening. There is great joy to be had in singing together and the Christian songs chosen are always in a modern, contemporary style, varying from gentle rock to country and ballads.
It truly is a friendly, relaxing experience, and you are guaranteed to walk out feeling uplifted and all set for a great start to your week. Why not come and join in – just for the fun of it?
