On Monday 12th June, the year 4’s of St. Francis’ Junior School held a class collective worship for the rest of the school, staff and parents to raise awareness of our efforts to raise funds to help St.John’s school in Tanzania to purchase a new bus.
The children were very brave and overcame some of their fears of speaking aloud in front of lots of people. It can be tricky but the children were fantastic and got the message across with clear voices. They talked about how far away the school is for the children; from where they live in Kilmatinde. It is about 24 miles or 38.5km! It would take us 30 minutes to drive this. We cannot imagine the walk to and from school for these children.
We are getting closer to our goal of raising £1,000. Article 28 of the UNCRC says that children and young people have the right to education no matter who they are, regardless of race, gender or disability; if they’re in detention, or if they’re a refugee.
Please, if you can, donate to our cause and help get the children back to school!
Thank you to anyone who has donated so far, from us all at St. Francis’ C of E Junior School. We were overwhelmed by the generosity from our community.
