Town Councillor Neil Collinson who represents Woodham Ward has been a resident of Newton Aycliffe for over 20 years. Married with 2 grown up children he has just retired from the local NHS Mental Health Trust which serves this area.
Neil is an active member of the GMB Trade Union, Vice Chair of the GMB Northern Equalities Forum and a representative of the GMB NHS National Health Committee.
As a passionate defender of local Public Services especially the NHS he will be taking part in the 300 mile “Peoples March for the NHS” starting in Jarrow on the 16th August 2014.
The march through Britain will end at Parliament in London on the 6th September where the walkers will be joined on the last leg by many politicians including Ed Miliband and Andy Burnham.
“I am  joining this march because of the assault on our most prized national possession – the National Health Service. I will be joining many others in campaigning to keep it safe and free for all”.
Neil appeals to anyone who is able to support the march when it passes their area and to join it by doing 1 mile, 10 miles or all 300 miles. Anyone can register at  999callfornhs.org.co
He is also looking for sponsorship or donations from local companies or the public  to help with costs of the 3 week march.
