People are getting prepared to mark the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day on 11th November 2018.

The Town Council is planting wild poppies all over green areas of the town and there is a suggestion that knitters in the town create cloth or woollen poppies to be displayed around our War Memorial outside St. Clare’s Church.

Further details and patterns to knit poppies will be announced nearer the time.

A charity helping ex-forces personnel is selling various memorial items, including replicas of a “Tommy”.

The website link is www.therebutnotthere.org.uk. The cost of a small perspex Tommy is £29.99 plus £3 P&P. The Tommy comes in a lovely presentation box and you get a voucher to have the statue plinth engraved should you wish.

There are other items available to buy on the website.
