Mrs. Fryer taken in 1971, eight years before she retired

Some readers may have attended Sugar Hill School; the first to be built in Newton Aycliffe. Mrs Fryer who still lives in the town and who followed Miss Milner as Head Teacher of the Infants’ School remembers those days and especially the children, with great fondness, even though she will be one hundred years old on June 9th!
If you too have happy memories and would like to share them with Mrs Fryer, or simply send her a card, then please do so via Newton Press at the Blue Bridge Centre, St. Cuthberts Way.

All correspondence will be delivered on her birthday by her two daughters, who following their mother’s example, became Head Teachers in Durham County too.
She will be celebrating her birthday with her five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and sons-in-law.
