Newton Aycliffe Youth Under 9’s Eagles took time out of training last week to visit their sponsor McDonald’s in Newton Aycliffe. The whole team arrived in their kits and very excited for a meal kindly provided by McDonald’s.

The boys had a great evening and were full of thanks to Adam, the manager, for not only providing strips and equipment in the past but for offering to continue to sponsor the team and help in any way possible in the future. The team relies on funding from sponsors for kit and equipment and are very grateful to McDonald’s for this. Thank you McDonald’s from all of the players, coaches and parents.

Newton Aycliffe Youth U9’s Eagles 2 – 0 Hetton Lyons Bowes

First half saw the Eagles really dominate the game with some excellent football, each player being involved in the match. Trystan and Nathan again so strong in defence meant that Will was only required to make a couple of saves in goal but what brilliant saves they were.

Both Nathan and Trystan running the width of the pitch making some crucial tackles and top class passes to the midfield. Adam, Edwin and Jayden in midfield linking up with some fantastic passing and runs one of which saw Adam run the length of the pitch with the ball, skipping round the opposition and confidently slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Excellent goal Adam well done. Jayden and Edwin were fantastic going forward but all the work they put in to get back and help out the defence was superb. Hamza who was making his debut as striker was finding great space and causing their defence major issues applying pressure as soon as the ball left their keeper. The balls that were being provided for him were awesome and he was unlucky not to get a goal. 1 – 0 at half time. Second half saw more of the same, no subs today so all players staying on the pitch.

Will gave way to Trystan in goal and moved into midfield with Adam and Jayden which meant Edwin dropped back into defence to team up with Nathan. Hamza staying upfront. The boys continued to play as they had the first half and dominated the game.

Adam and Will linked up so well going forward and it didn’t take long for Will to get a goal. Adam skipped past 2 of their players and passed to Will in front of goal who still had plenty to do as he too skipped past 2 defenders with ease and found the back of the net, brilliant team play and a fantastic goal Will, well deserved.

Trystan in goal was only required to make a hand full of saves due to the work of the outfield players however I am unsure how he managed to save one, leaping out of his goal and plucking the ball from the air making it look easy.

We finished the game 2-0 and it was so well deserved. Each player should be so proud of the way they played as we are very proud as coaches. Man of the Match this week was Adam not only for getting a goal and an assist but for the work he put in all over the pitch for the full match.

Well done Adam however everyone played a part in the win and the standard of football played was so high. The team has improved massively over the past few weeks and now are working as a team, well done to all The Eagles. Thank you again to all the parents for their support on a very cold day, it’s very much appreciated.

Spennymoor Town 2 – 3 Newton Aycliffe Youth U10’s

Great game on Saturday and things started well with an end to end game. Alex Bellwood firing in a great free kick. A misjudgement by our keeper Jude let the opposition back in 1-1 at half time. Second half Aycliffe kept playing their football and Will Houlahan scored twice to put the Youthy 3-1 up. Despite making three changes at half time Aycliffe battled hard and went on to win 3-2. Man of the match today for his great first half performance was Isaac Clennell.

The committee and coaching staff would like to wish everyone a fantastic, happy and safe festive period.
