Last month saw the second Skate Park Competition organised by the Youth Centre in the Town Park. The project is ongoing by youth workers Laura Langdale and Franceene Birbeck and is funded through Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership.
The competition saw 13 young people enter on scooters and BMX with another 24 young people attending to show their support along with other friends and family.
The winners were as follows:
BMX – 1st Ryan Tebbit.
2nd Curtis Wilby
Scooter Beginner– 1st Aaron Taylor.
2nd Tyler Claughton
3rd Bailey Leybourne
Scooter Advanced – 1st Paul Grey.
2nd Bradley Claughton
3rd Harry Duggan.
The group meet every other Wednesday to organise and plan events with visits to other skate parks and will be looking to secure future funding for bigger events next year.
