Things are calming down a little and I hope that all our babies and juveniles have been rescued and kept in the warm, should they try to hibernate they will die in their sleep well before spring. I know Sandra, who runs Darlington Rescue, has quite a few in her care, I have 14 here which is well over capacity but on a positive note all of them are moving off treatment now. I just have to keep them safe and warm.
My latest little admission is a beautiful little girl that was rescued from a drain last week, her finder, Roy, heard her cries for help, thankfully there was no water in the drain, she had injured her nose trying to escape, thank you Roy, had you not been there to hear her cries she wouldn’t be here and thriving, and for your donation, also thank you Ali for making it possible for her to be here with Denise’s help.
Thank you to the staff at Sore Paws for making it possible for Bob to visit with a donation to help our hoggies, he also purchased some raffle tickets, lots of lovely prizes on offer. Thank you Bob.
This rescue couldn’t function without June, Valerie and Grange Vets who are always there for me and our beautiful hedgehogs. I am still waiting for the hospital to send for me, I am going to have a hip replacement but it’s business as usual, I fully intend to take care of these precious little hogs, before and after surgery.
Tip of the week: should you see a hedgehog out during the day, whatever size it is, he or she needs help, possible overwintering too, please ring The British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801.
Failing that, there is a website called Help Wildlife, there are hedgehog rescues on that site, if you need to get in touch with me my email is pricklyhaven@yahoo.com, always here to help.
