It has been a very busy week. Prickly Haven is having to announce closure, we have more than we normally have in rescue and looking after these prickly pals is never straightforward, fundraising is also required so, before I go any further, I would like to thank Denise for taking little hogs into her home, Paul for inviting me to the Christmas Light Switch On, Marlene for her help with the tombola, June, Valerie, Lorraine, Carrie, Bev, Hilary, Grannies Choice, Wally and Donella, The Worx for a voucher and, also some whiskey, the giver wanted to remain anonymous. Please come and support us, we need your help to keep these beautiful mammals safe, warm and fed for the next four months.
We, as rescuers, are getting overstretched, we are witnessing a lot of babies and juveniles coming into rescues that are too small to hibernate, they haven’t got the time to build up the fat reserves necessary to sleep till spring, it is necessary to keep them warm, so they don’t hibernate, they would never wake up in spring otherwise. We are trying to boost their population so we do as much as we can, never forget they are protected, endangered and at risk of extinction so please help them where you can. If you see one, whatever size, out during the day please pick him or her up, pop in a high sided box, with a towel for them to hide in, and get help, Google Hedgehog Rescues.
Here is a little fuzzy baby for you, she is called Mitzi, she is only 175g, she is gaining weight and sharing a cage with Charley.
