It has been quite a week, since the last publication, but for all the best reasons. Thanks firstly go to Stephanie for helping me with last Saturday’s Pride Fest, Steffie and Nigel, Lizzie for her poem and her donation, Rob and family for their donation, Cath and John who brought me a beautiful hoglet named Bea, with a donation, and not forgetting June and Valerie for providing me with some lovely things to sell and June’s help at the event. Also thanks to Stephenson Way Nursery School for calling me about a little hedgehog they found, he has been called Stevie, only 208grams, much too small to be out alone and in trouble, quite happy, warm and comfy, he, with the other hoggies, will be kept safe warm, comfy and well fed.
Penny continues to make progress with only having three legs, I am also happy about Holly, this poor lady has had everything known to hedgehog but I am pleased to say she is now making positive progress so please keep your fingers crossed that she continues to be well and gets released very soon. I have also admitted Alice, very thin with anaemia because she has had lots of ticks, which have fallen off once they have gorged on her blood, leaving her quite unwell. She is making progress, bless her.
I would like to express my sadness about an issue that has been uppermost on my mind in recent weeks, some rescues have taken it upon themselves to euthanise hedgehogs, that have leg injuries, that need amputation instead, I know who these rescues are, myself and Sandra, of Darlington Rescue, and other rescues, believe these poor babies deserve a chance to adapt to their new condition. If you find a hedgehog that has injuries like this, please make sure you get in touch with me first and I will provide you with a safe rescue for them if I am full.
To finish for this week, send good luck wishes to all that I have released recently Lilly to Durham, Charlie, Pebbles and Dusty, to Cockfield, Tiny and Robyn both Newton Aycliffe hoggies. We all need to have a duty of care for these poor souls, they have more problems than they deserve, please be kind to them as they are every gardens best friend.
